Robust
winger/centre who came to Manly from Souths in 1972
and played a major role in the club's first
premiership success, partnering the brilliant Bob
Fulton in the centres. Branighan scored 15pts in the
1972 grand final (1 try, 6 goals). He toured with
Australia's World Cup squad in 1972 and backed up for
another premiership win with the Sea Eagles in 1973
before touring with the Kangaroos and playing all
five Tests. Branighan played in the 1975 World Series
but left Sydney at the end of 1978 after-being a
reserve in Manly's courageous win in the grand final
replay to take on a two-year contract as
