RON BEAUMONT
Fullback 1947-53
A member of Manly's successful
Presidents Cup side in 1946 he made a try saving ball
and all tackle in the final moments to save the game
and the Cup for Manly. A win that was instrumental in
Manly gaining first grade status in 1947. He played
in Manly's first 3rd Grade game against Wests at
Brookvale on 12 April 1947 and has the distinction of
scoring Manly's first ever points with his opening
goal in that match.
In his initial first grade
match, Ron played a decisive role in Manly's first
ever away win, a shock 24-23 win over minor premiers
Canterbury at Belmore. He went on to play 10 first
grade matches in 1947 and was voted most improved
first grader.
In total he played 115 first
grade matches, scoring 15 points.
He also played in Manly's first
ever first grade Grand Final in 1951.
